At the helm are co-founders Michelle Vine (installation/photo media artist, designer) and Perrin Ellis (creative director, writer, designer, artist). These two live and work together in a Brisbane apartment that’s basically an art-filled library, complete with a clowder of cats overseeing their every move.

The seed for Here Space was actually planted after a curveball: Michelle and Perrin’s previous East Brisbane studio was swamped in the devastating February 2022 floods. That experience sparked a big dream – to create a truly nurturing, professional, and stable workspace for themselves, one they could also share with other artists and creatives.

Michelle and Perrin’s vision for Here Space is deeply rooted in their own intersecting experiences of disability, neurodivergence, and queerness. This means they’re all about crafting a supportive, inclusive, and stable space that genuinely puts artists’ well-being first. It’s about building strong community connections, fostering sustainable practices, and helping artists thrive economically.
