Located in a former clothing & textile factory, our East Brisbane base is easily accessible in the central south of the city. Clothing & textile manufacturing was once Brisbane’s most influential industry, dominating the local economy and employing over 40% of the city’s industrial workforce. The city was known for its community of local artisans who shared their expertise and powered factories like the one that once stood in our building.
Our goal is to reignite this knowledge-sharing community by bringing artists, designers, makers, and creative businesses closer together. What were once factory floors are now vibrant artist studios and creative coworking spaces.
Perfectly positioned just a few blocks from The Gabba, an icon of the Brisbane landscape, we sit adjacent to the city south’s key sporting and entertainment precinct. This rare inner-city industrial environment offers a quiet, productive setting. With Here Space just a few kilometres from South Bank and the city’s Cultural Precinct, our flagship location is the perfect place to set up your new creative HQ.
A Growing Arts Ecosystem
The Works was the first studio to open at Here Space in December 2023 with 9 founding studio artists, and The Tool Shop, our fabrication workshop; growing since to host 14 dedicated studios.
The Finishing Room followed in October 2024 with permanent spaces for 8 artists. Since opening, 24 artists have made Here Space their creative home – we now look forward to welcoming the newest bunch of creatives to our community.
The third stage of Here Space’s development includes The Ballroom – a cavernous space whose polished timber floors and soaring ceilings now contains 11 dedicated creative studios close to completion, along with a mix of dedicated desks, flex space/hot desks for coworking, and The Art Room – a 65 sqm casual coworking art studio and workshop/event space.
Now with an 800sqm footprint, which includes 356 sqm on the upper floor and a 65 sqm ground floor gallery space under construction, Here Space is fast growing into an all-inclusive arts ecosystem for artists, makers, and creatives alike to thrive, connect and collaborate.
